STEPHANIE CORMIER

Stephanie Cormier is a Toronto-based artist working across sculpture, textiles, and photography. She works with a variety of sculptural and digital media, often fusing the two as well as combining art and the labour of craft. Her research centres around finding resourcefulness and wonder in everyday materials and actions. She questions hierarchal worth and capitalist value systems leaning more towards systems of compassion, strength, and a wilding of overly refined experience. Cormier holds a BFA from the Ontario College of Art and Design (2005) and an MFA from the University of Guelph (2014), has exhibited across Canada and has participated in exhibitions and residencies in the US, the Caribbean, and the UK. She was born in Montreal but came of age in rural parts of the Caribbean, returning to Canada as an adult.
